The Power of Cultivating Supportive Habits
Someone told me that habits emanates from the latin words ''habituare'' which means dwelling place. It means that we are dwelling in (existing) within our habits and the habits we form, have and uphold. Imagine, every day, we are doing different things, being in different places and so forth. When we understand that we can create dwelling places (habits) that are supportive for us and our well-being our lives can improve incredibly.
An example is, imagine an evening, before going to bed, you light candles, let some fresh air in, take out your favorite blanket and pillow and make yourself a cup of tea. Then you take 5 or 10 minutes for yourself with your blanket and pillow on the floor just resting. This is a kind of habit that moves your mind, body and awareness to that specific experience.
Compare that to laying on the couch just scrolling on the phone with the light from the phone in your face, maybe with no other lightning in the room or with poor circulated air in the room, or even worse, with the TV on in the background or with a bag of chips next to you.
Ask yourself, which habit brings you closer to your Dream Life and to your best well-being?
Another example, is starting your day making yourself a delicious smoothie, maybe with some spinach, a banana, some peanut butter and oat milk, or frozen raspberries, some vanilla yoghurt, cardamom and oat milk (it doesn't have to be difficult). Compare that to starting your day with a piece of toast with some butter, or worse, no breakfast at all.
Imagine further, you eat the toast on the go without sitting down, and you are rushed. Compare that to setting the table, maybe with some nice porcelain and cutlery, maybe with napkins or a lit candle. The experience is incredibly different and one will lead you to better well-being as you're indulging all of your 5 senses in the experience.
When we are grounded and present in our habits, daily routines and routines and take one step after another we are creating a beautiful life.
Many times we are seeking the ultimate experience in our life, like some big peak, but we tend to forget that life can be so appreciated and beautiful in the small things and small moments of our life. And all of those moments together is our life.
Cultivating daily habits and routines that supports us, nourishes us and grounds us can create mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health. It can help us connect deeper with out intuition and inner selves, Because when we feel safe, supported and grounded our nervous system relaxes and we can tap into greater wisdom and our soul than the endless chatter of the mind.
When we are grounded and present in our habits, daily routines and routines and take one step after another we are creating a beautiful life.
